Acting in Transit

Acting in Transit is a masterclass created for dancers to improve upon their storytelling while moving. This class is ideal for dancers of all ages to find comfort and confidence in the purpose of movement. Acting in Transit is a great resource for young dancers who perform often, and need tips and tools to increase their overall performance quality. Christy Simmons will teach dancers how to create a dialogue and tell their story with their mind, body, and soul through movement.

Christy Simmons received her early training as a tween, alongside grad-students, many years her senior. The curriculum was based upon the Stanislovky Method, and the teachings of the great Uta Hagen. Following that, Ms, Simmons studied at New York University, with legendary acting teacher, Stella Adler.

Her professional career has included film (Hester Street, Roller Coaster, The Amazing Howard Hughes), radio (American Radio Theatre, 770am WEW), straight plays (And Miss Rearden Drinks A Little, Shear Madness), musicals (Nunsense, Some Of My Best Friends Are…) and more,

Ms. Simmons was nominated for the prestigious Kevin Kline award, for her portrayal of Sophie Tucker, in Last Of The Red Hot Mamas, and has been dubbed “St. Louis’ Cabaret Powerhouse”, and “The First Lady Of St. Louis Cabaret” for her many acclaimed cabaret shows.
